If you’re thinking, “How could I ever start a relationship with God?” or “Get to know Him better?” or “Get to know Him better again?” one way is to look at your life and look for things that get in the way of or draw you away from God.
If there’s anything that takes away from prayer or praising the Lord or reading His Bible or witnessing to people, these are the things you need to stop doing. Getting rid of those things would be a step in the right direction and that even goes for people who are Christians. We have to look for things everyday that take us away from the Lord, because everyday is a battle. Sometimes only the Lord can help us stop doing things that take us away from Him. There are some strongholds that only He can break.
It all starts when we stop looking selfishly at ourselves and willingly give things up. If we’re always looking at ourselves we can not hear God or see what He’s up to. I remember when I was a younger person in the Lord, the last thing I wanted to do was give things up to the Lord. Once I started doing that the Lord started showing me more and more things that were getting in the way of my relationship with Him that I never knew.
Good things start happening when these things start dropping from your life. You start hearing the direction of the Holy Spirit more clearly. You feel inexpressible joy more often. How can we not give stuff up to Jesus the Son of God? Giving things up is not a requirement for salvation, but it sure makes things difficult when it comes to a closer relationship with the Lord. Sometimes you have to make sacrifices for the ones we love.
What good is gaining the whole world, if you
Mathew 16:24-27
24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me. 25 If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. 26 And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul? 27 For the Son of Man will come with his angels in the glory of his Father and will judge all people according to their deedsLook what His Father has given us. Look at nature and wildlife around you. Think of all the clouds and weather phenomena. Look at all the beauty of space with its stars, planets and nebulas.
If you’ve never known the Lord let me share some scriptures that will show you how to do that.
John 1:8-10
8If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our livesRomans 3:9-26
No One is RighteousJesus died a cruel death on a cross for us and He never even sinned. He rose again the third day. He loved us that much. That means you. Just put your trust in Him and confess that you’re a sinner and want His forgiveness. Ask Him to forgive you of your sins and help you turn away from them and guide you by His Holy Spirit if you truly mean it.
9What shall we conclude then? Are we any better? Not at all! We have already made the charge that Jews and Gentiles alike are all under sin. 10As it is written:
"There is no one righteous, not even one;
11there is no one who understands,
no one who seeks God.
12All have turned away,
they have together become worthless;
there is no one who does good,
not even one."
13"Their throats are open graves;
their tongues practice deceit."
"The poison of vipers is on their lips."
14"Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness."
15"Their feet are swift to shed blood;
16ruin and misery mark their ways,
17and the way of peace they do not know."
18"There is no fear of God before their eyes.”
19Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. 20Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.
Righteousness Through Faith
21But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. 22This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, 23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— 26he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.
Hope to see you in the Spirit in the sky.
Catch you later.
