God is the Great Physician and He Says Homosexuality is a Missed Diagnosis

Saturday, October 2, 2010

The world says that these practices are okay and normal, but it is as far from the truth as you can get. It’s like when pharmaceutical companies put out a pill, and then they have to recall it because it causes cancer or some other adverse affect. Another example is like Lasik surgery, and then come to find out it can make eye problems worse.

God never designed the human body to do these things. Babies are supposed to be made after a man and woman get married. Male to male nor female to female can make a child. God doesn’t want His children to do certain things for a reason. He’s not some cosmic killjoy. He’s a loving, forgiving Father. It’s for our own protection. Committing sexual sin can highly increase your chance of getting an STD, which nobody needs. If you convince yourself of something being right, how are you supposed to be able to repent or return to God if you think what you’re doing is “fine and dandy”? If you hear a lie long enough you begin to believe it. The diagnosis of homosexuality is a sinful nature being encouraged by the lies of the world.

The whole reason I feel like I should write this is because of what happened a couple days ago. Tyler Clementi, a student at a Rutgers University, took his life after someone broadcast his homosexual activity on the internet. I was disturbed thinking about the world telling him his lifestyle was okay, and then you have people making fun of him and being malicious with their words. Probably something in his spirit was crying out, saying there’s something wrong with my body and I don’t know what it is. This poor individual was so disturbed that he felt the only way he could escape was by killing himself. If he would have known Jesus, He could have helped him escape the lie of homosexuality.

Homosexuality is like any sin. It can get to the point that they need someone else’s help: counseling or medication. Some homosexual tendencies can be caused by a chemical imbalance. I’m no expert but I’ve heard that chasing after that kind of sin can make the chemical imbalance worse. There are many different scenarios that lead to this type of sin, but one thing I know for sure with the help of God’s Holy Spirit you can overcome any addiction or stronghold.

If anyone is struggling with this let me give you some scriptures to read to help you.

1 Corinthians 10:13

13No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.
These scriptures may be a little rough, but if you read them all the way through, you’ll find the light at the end of the tunnel.

Romans 1:18-32

God's Wrath Against Mankind
18The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.
21For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.
24Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
26Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.
28Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. 29They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

God's Righteous Judgment
1You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. 2Now we know that God's judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. 3So when you, a mere man, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God's judgment? 4Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God's kindness leads you toward repentance?
5But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God's wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. 6God "will give to each person according to what he has done." 7To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. 8But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger. 9There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile; 10but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 11For God does not show favoritism.
12All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law. 13For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God's sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous. 14(Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law, 15since they show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts now accusing, now even defending them.) 16This will take place on the day when God will judge men's secrets through Jesus Christ, as my gospel declares.
Romans 5:6-11
6You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. 8But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
9Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him! 10For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! 11Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
You don’t change yourself to go to church you go to church to be changed.

Too many times churches are hateful and evil-eyed toward sinners. They forget they were sinners once, too. We are all sinners saved by grace. Jesus has taught us to flee from evil and the things we once did. Let the power of Jesus’ love set you free from the chains of bondage.
